Books

Books are expensive unless you buy them second hand!  With the advent of online readers like Kindle, I don't buy many books for myself anymore, but I do buy a lot of children's books.   It's one activity you just cannot replace with computers when it comes to learning and quality time.  Here is my fabulous book deal of the week!~

Item:  Golden Books
Place: Goodwill
Price:  .59 cents! each

Yes!  Books for 59 cents. (the same golden books sell at Walmart for $4.50 and they are paperback, egads!)  I love golden books for early readers because they are hard covered and extremely durable. That one on the top: There is a Monster at the End of this Book, that was MY FAVORITE book growing up.  I absolutely loved it!  I cannot wait to share it with a young reader someday!

Appliances!

Most Goodwills are contracted to get Walmart's discontinued appliances. These electronics are usually 50-70% off of their retail values and many have never even been opened.  I have found that most of the time the boxes are damaged but the products inside are in perfect shape.

A couple of weeks ago, I found this quesadilla maker for $7.99:

It retails at most stores for around $20. I've had a great time experimenting with it so far!

Stuffed Animals

I am sure a lot of people would think it is kind of gross to get stuffed animals from a thrift store.  I am constantly amazed though at the great condition most are in.   I think thrift stores nowadays throw away animals with signs of wear and tear.  A lot of the toys I get are brand new, and many still have the original priced tags on them.  You can't beat the deals.   Here is an example of a bag I picked up this week:

There are $2.99 sealed bags full of beany babies/small toys.

This bag had 8 toys total in them.  Four of the toys had pricetags still on them.  All were immaculate.  Tell me where can you find 8 perfect little toys for under 3 bucks?  The Goodwill, that's where!

Goodwill- Board Game Extravaganza!

The Goodwill has amazing deals on board games.  They are all $1.99, which is a small fraction of their retail cost.  Now granted sometimes you get games with missing pieces here and there, but for the most part, they are complete and always a blast with the right company.

Awhile ago, I found a scrabble game in hopes to teach myself the art of making scrabble tile necklaces.  When I got home, I was thrilled that the game came with someone's handknitted tile holding bag.  Here is a picture of my find:

First Entry

One of my many passions in life is thrifting.  I love finding good deals or free stuff.  I love Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, Estate Sales, Craigslist, and even good deals at retail shops.  I cannot get enough of finding goodies.  This blog is dedicated to my bargain hunting treasures!
